The Pomsky Which Sex to Choose!

The Perfect Blend of Husky and Spitz

This is a question that often comes up during my interviews with future adoptive families and even if there is no major difference between males and females, we will try to guide you in choosing your perfect dog.

The Physical and Physiological Differences Between a Female and Male Pomsky Dog:

I often tell my family that it's very variable and difficult to generalize between males and females, just as it is difficult to do so between males and females.

Male Pomsky dogs may tend to have a more imposing build than females. However, this is not always the case, and it sometimes happens that within a litter, females are larger and more imposing than males. In any case, if the size of your Pomsky is an important factor, it is recommended to wait until the puppy is 1 month old before making a decision.

From a physiological point of view, the female is in heat every 6 months. During 10 to 15 days, she will therefore lose drops of blood more or less abundantly. It should be noted that sterilization puts an end to the female's heat cycles and therefore also to these inconveniences.
Male Pomsky dogs tend to mark their territory. Marking consists of leaving their scent through small urine sprays. Sterilization will also reduce this inconvenience, provided that sterilization is performed before the age of 1 year.

The male Pomsky dog will also tend to be attracted to females when they are in heat and will be more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior towards other males.

As for "dominance" and the act of "mounting," these behaviors can be observed in both male and female Pomsky dogs. In fact, dominance depends on the situation and it is not always the same individual who is dominant within the pack.

Behavioral differences between a female and male Pomsky dog.

Contrary to what one might think, male Pomsky dogs are often more affectionate than females. They are often more clingy and closer to their owner.

Male Pomsky dogs are just as obedient and playful as females. They are also often more conscientious and less stubborn than their female counterparts.

Generally, the female Pomsky dog is more independent and strong-willed.

During adolescence, male Pomsky dogs are often more "goofy" and "babyish" than females. Females may calm down more quickly, but they can also be more playful and have a tougher adolescent phase.

However, it's important to remember that each dog's personality varies. Your Pomsky's character will mostly depend on the time you spend together. You will shape your relationship with your dog, regardless of whether it is male or female. They will be true adventure companions if you take the time to meet their needs.

Don't settle for just one sex - you could be missing out on a real favourite!

Take care to choose a kennel that corresponds to your vision and ethics and it will be able to guide you towards the puppy that matches your criteria and lifestyle.
