The History of the Pomsky

The Pomsky is not an ancient breed. It’s a hybrid dog that emerged in the United States in the early 2010s before winning over Europe, including France.
A deliberate cross
The Pomsky results from crossing a Siberian Husky with a Pomeranian. The goal of early American breeders was clear: create a dog that keeps the husky’s striking looks (slender build, upright ears, sometimes blue eyes) in a much smaller, apartment-friendly size.
Popularity driven by social media
The Pomsky owes much of its fame to social media: the first Pomsky puppy photos shared on Instagram around 2012 quickly went viral worldwide.
The Pomsky in France
In France, the Pomsky remains a recent but increasingly sought-after breed. At Royaume des Galopins, we breed this line with the same rigor as our other breeds: systematic genetic testing of our breeding dogs, selection based on health and temperament before looks, and full support for adopting families.
