Pomsky Michou: The Social Media Craze Around the Pomsky

The Pomsky is a brand-new, on-trend cross between a Husky and a Pomeranian. It was deliberately created by humans in the United States in the 2000s, and it became famous very quickly thanks to social media. The same has happened in France with the country’s best-known Pomsky, the “Pomsky Michou” — a female called Yuki.

The Pomsky is what is known as a designer dog: a dog created by humans by pairing two primitive breeds with completely different sizes and builds. The aim of the cross is to keep the Husky’s conformation while reducing its size and softening its character, so that it suits family life.

The power of social media

While there are more and more new crosses — Labradoodle, Aussiedoodle, Goldendoodle, Yoranian — it is the Pomsky that has taken centre stage, and it owes that reputation largely to social media.

On Facebook, Instagram and TikTok we see more and more Pomskies with thousands of followers. What makes them famous is that big teddy-bear face, that Husky build and, above all, a fun, outgoing personality that makes them proper little rascals.

People love being able to follow their lives, their growing up and their mischief — and it is true that the Pomsky fascinates enormously. Much of the appeal is that physically the Pomsky retains a very Husky look.

The Husky remains a dog many people dream of, one that fascinates through its bearing and elegance. But, as many know, the Husky is a primitive dog that needs a great deal of activity and excellent training before it becomes a good family dog. Its size also makes it hard to fit into Parisian or city life. It is happier in a large garden, with long weekend outings in the forest or the mountains.

So the Pomsky creates a stir because physically it resembles the Husky that so many dream of, while its size and temperament make it a perfect fit for family life, apartments included.

Michou is a young YouTuber who became famous through his gaming videos. He introduced his dog on YouTube early on: the lovely Yuki, a short-coated Pomsky with a light coat and blue eyes.

Michou has made a number of videos with his Pomsky, introducing her, sharing her life with us, testing her intelligence and showing us her mischief.

In those videos you can clearly see that the Pomsky is an energetic, dynamic dog.

Search on YouTube and you will find plenty of other videos of the Pomsky Michou.

Michou is not France’s only famous Pomsky. More and more adopters are creating Instagram accounts for their Pomskies, and a real community is forming around this young breed.

As with any breed, it is important to be careful with a passing trend and to do your research, so that you are sure the Pomsky matches your expectations and your lifestyle. You will find more information about its character here: The Pomsky’s character
